Shepherd Real Estate LLC — How it all began

Ron and Amy Shepherd purchased their first rehab property in 2002. Having both grown up watching their entrepreneurial parents own and manage rental properties, they understood that the success of their investment would hinge on commitment and hard work.

For several months Ron and Amy worked long into the night, completing hands-on repairs and transforming the property into a beautiful home. A love for real estate investment was born, and the Shepherds eagerly put their experience to work once again, completing many additional projects in the years to follow. With each property, they not only carefully prepared the homes to look their best, they also designed effective marketing plans to ensure a successful sale.

After selling numerous properties “by owner,” the Shepherds found themselves answering numerous questions from friends and family seeking real estate advice. This naturally led to Ron becoming a real estate agent. Along the way, Ron met Jeff Mohler at a sheriff sale. As the men began working together on real estate transactions, they discovered many common interests and goals, as well as a shared business philosophy. Ron and Jeff recognized the potential to unite and offer a team of expert advice in real estate, legal work, and accounting for their clients.

At Shepherd Real Estate LLC, we believe in serving our clients in an advisory role, without pressure—putting their needs above our chance to make an extra penny. Ron Shepherd - Realtor / Certified Public Accountant

Ron has been investing in real estate in Lancaster County, PA and Chester County, PA for nearly 20 years. His extensive experience includes rental properties, land development, new construction, flipping properties, installment sales, short sales, foreclosures, sheriff sales, property management, syndications, and much more. Whether you are looking for your first home, luxury home, family farm, multi-family income property or commercial property, Ron has the experience to help you make a great decision.

Ron's full service tax practice, Shepherd Accounting, based in Lancaster County, PA, focuses on providing expertise to real estate investors, real estate partnerships, LLC’s, small businesses, and individuals. Ron regularly consults clients on the tax impact of real estate related issues, such as entity structure, short- and long-term tax planning, self-directed IRA’s, and 1031 exchanges.

Ron is a licensed real estate agent in Pennsylvania and holds memberships in the Lancaster County Association of REALTORS®, Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS® (PAR), and National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Ron is also a CPA and a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). 

Ron was born in Chester County, the son of a successful real estate investor and farmer. He is a graduate of Millersville University and has resided in Lancaster County for 19 years. Ron lives in Manheim Township with his wife, Amy, and their four children.

Wendell Huyard - Realtor

Wendell is a Realtor at Shepherd Real Estate LLC. He has invested in real estate for over 15 years, buying and selling properties. He has also been a landlord for over 10 years, serving as his own property manager. He is a life long resident of Lancaster County; raised on a farm he learned the value of hard work. Wendell is married to Mary Jo and they have 3 children, he enjoys spending time with his family and landscaping. Wendell will specialize in residential sales with a focus on real estate investments.

Jeff Mohler – Broker / Attorney

Jeffrey D. Mohler is a licensed attorney, real estate broker, and an owner of Shepherd Real Estate LLC. Jeff also owns a law office in Lancaster, PA. He practices law in the areas of real estate, landlord/ tenant law, and estate planning.

Jeff has 15 years' experience as a real estate attorney and has represented his clients in 1031 Exchanges, Hard Money Lending, Sheriff Sales, Real Estate Settlements, Lease Options, Rent to Own, “Subject To” purchases, short sales, auctions, landlord tenant issues, property management issues, for sale by owner transactions, and many other areas related to real estate. Jeff also advises clients and assists in proper entity creation, bankruptcy and estate planning.

Jeff is the former president of Real Estate Investors of Lancaster and a former board member of Friendship Community. He completed his undergraduate work at Eastern Mennonite College, where he graduated in 1989 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Jeff then attended the Dickinson School of Law, where he served on the Law Review, and graduated in 1993. He is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania. Jeff lives with his wife and family in Lancaster, PA, where he enjoys spending time reading and managing rental properties.

Amy Shepherd – Office Manager

Amy has 7 years of experience as a real estate investor and is an owner of Shepherd Real Estate. She manages much of the behind-the-scenes work for our clients. A native of Vermont, Amy moved to Pennsylvania to attend Messiah College. Upon graduating with a degree in dietetics, she settled in Lancaster County. In addition to her work with Shepherd Real Estate, Amy is also a homeschooling mother of four.
